While one does not directly cause the other, there are several ways in which cholesterol levels and diabetes risk can be interconnected. Cholesterol is a fatty substance found in the blood that plays essential roles in various bodily functions. Two primary types of cholesterol exist: Low-density lipoprotein and high-density lipoprotein.
